July 14, 2026 at 5:43am ET: New Moon in Punarvasu 27:45° sidereal Gemini: Taking Stock
The New Moon is in Punarvasu, an uplifting degree of Gemini whose name means “restoration” or “good again” in Sanskrit. It’s a healing sign whose shakti or power offers rejuvenation and encourages us to revisit or repurpose previous ways or ideas. Its ruling goddess Aditi, mother of the gods, brings nurturing and guidance for individuals to rise up from adversity and embrace the new beginnings being birthed. This New Moon sign has an innate positivity and deep resilience that creates an ability to bounce back with fresh perspective. Let’s keep this at the forefront as we continue to work with tricky retrogrades over the next few weeks and months (Mercury until July 23, Saturn will be retrograde July 25-Dec 10, followed immediately by Jupiter retrograde Dec 12-April 12, 2027).
Punarvasu’s symbol of the arrow highlights the importance of journeying out into the world (on all levels), while the quiver symbolism reminds us to return home – but more importantly, that we are meant to bring our insights and gains back to share or (re)use in our lives in a new way. Punarvasu is ruled by Jupiter and Mercury, the “professor planets,” which give it its yearning for intellectual and spiritual pursuits and understanding.
However, this New Moon sign can easily overthink, over-analyze and over-intellectualize life experiences. Be aware of the potential to spin out a bit this next lunar cycle. Remember to safely return home. Its Mercury and Jupiter connections remind us that grounding *pranayama (focused breathwork) and journaling (specifically gratitude and envisioning) are especially helpful during this next lunar cycle. Additionally, the 3rd pada ruler is Mercury, adding an extra highlighting that we not only to revisit our ideas (likely from the past), but that we work with them again, figure out how we’re meant to utilize them at this stage of things, make plans and set dates to finally birth the idea.

The shadow side of this New Moon and next lunar cycle has the tendency to constantly seek new beginnings, which can create a lack of continuity or lead to unfinished projects. Mercury retrograde can go either way: either drop us off at procrastination station, or it can help us wrap up old projects and then review and re-envision what’s next on the horizon. Like the Punarvasu arrow, let’s stay focused on our goals, journey out and bring the benefits back home.
On a subtle level, we receive tremendous support from Punarvasu’s goddess the mother Aditi, through her connection to the very special 1 hour and 36 minutes before sunrise called the “Brahma Muhurta” hours, or the Creator’s Hours. The classic Vedic texts state that meditating during this golden pre-dawn time is especially powerful as it can help us access and undo some of our earliest traumas.
