Aug 9, 2025 at 3:54am ET: Full Moon in sidereal Capricorn - Shravana: TUNE IN / LISTEN

This lunar cycle began with the New Moon in Pushya, asking us what we hold dear, what we are holding (too) tightly, and what we are letting go of. The Full Moon in Shravana, the “listening star,” and other planets are encouraging us to pause and tune in before we make bold moves. This isn’t a Moon of frantic action or reaction; rather it’s one of reflection, quiet contemplation and resting in a space of deep inner certainty first.

The symbols of this Full Moon in Shravana are an ear, a trident, and 3 footprints – connected to the 3 strides Vishnu, its presiding deity, took to measure the earth, the heavens and the space in between. It’s a sensitive sign that has the power is to listen intently: to our inner guidance, to insights we receive, to our mentors and loved ones, and to the vibrations of music and the sounds surrounding us. It truly hears what is being shared. It’s also connected to the sound AUM, which corresponds to the beginning, middle and end – to creation, preservation, and dissolution. Some say the Universe itself whirls to the humming sound of aum.

Thankfully, this Moon isn’t making heavy connections to other planets, except the Sun and to Mercury retrograde. Going inward is supported and encouraged. It’s a gentle yet powerful Moon where we can sit in silence and tune in to our inner guidance, be present with good company, or be moved by mantra or our musical heroes. These planetary connections also help us revisit old studies, past educational goals, or spiritual teachings we’ve set aside; these threads are beginning to call us back.

It’s worth noting that Mars and Saturn sit in exact opposition during the Full Moon, creating a moment of tension that invites patience and discernment. Mars wants to leap forward; Saturn says not so fast. Both are in signs that require more information and healthy dose of inspiration. Recognizing vision, patience and a plan are needed will go a long way in managing expectations while promoting maturity. Luckily, the Full Moon and the retrograde energies can help us with this piece.

Questions to consider:

• Are you listening more to external noise or to your own inner voice?

• Where in life are you being invited to pause, listen, and truly integrate what you’ve already learned?

• What ideas or mentors are speaking most to you at the moment?

• What songs or sounds (or silence) are especially important right now?

• What did you once commit to learning or exploring that’s ready to be revisited?

• What part of you is ready to act (Mars), and what part needs a more solid foundation first (Saturn)?

• What needs more time or structure?

• Consider chanting AUM (supports parasympathetic nervous system and vagus nerve tone), the Sanskrit alphabet (said to activate all organs and systems in our bodies), or the bija (“seed”) mantras connecting to the central chakras (where ida and pingala nadis intersect with sushumna): Lam, Vam, Ram, Yam, Ham, Aum, Aum or internal aum/silence
