New Moon in 7°55 sidereal Cancer Pushya — July 24, 2025 at 15:11 ET: RELEASE / RESILIENCE

This New Moon falls in Pushya, the Nurturer, a tender yet deeply resilient degree of sidereal Cancer. Its symbols - the cow’s udder and the lotus - reveal its core: to nourish freely and to rise up and flower despite adversity. Pushya is ruled by the maternal Moon and disciplined Saturn, and by the deity Brihaspati, the ever-devoted lord of sacred speech, bringing the New Moon focus to nourishment, structure, consistency, and devotion.

Often considered the most auspicious nakshatra, Pushya brings deep nurturing, strength, dedication and wisdom. Its Saturnian connection teaches us that self-care is not a luxury but a necessity in order to fully show up in our own lives — and then be able to support others. However, Pushya’s giving nature can default to putting others first and can even become overly attached, gripping tightly to people, roles, or beliefs that may no longer serve. Dr. Vasant Lad reminds us the word Pushya also means “eraser” in Sanskrit — what we don’t release willingly may be suddenly removed by life itself. This New Moon is encouraging us to look at our personal needs and to create structures to be able to access that first so we can be of service in the highest way. This often means letting go first.

🪷To consider:

• What is being held too tightly?

• What are you devoted to, and what are you ready to move on from?

• What nourishes your body, mind, and spirit?

• What stories from your lineage are you ready to heal or release? (See below Adi Amavasya)

• What does consistent self-care look like for you now?

Remember: true self care is not just about relaxation and luxurious indulgences. It’s about having systems and routines in place to support your overall well being. Our daily routines are the anchor that keep us strong and steady. See “dinacharya” page for ideas of how to start the day based on Ayurveda: https://ayurveda.com/the-daily-routine/

🐍🔥KALA SARPA YOGA, MARS MOVEMENT and MERC RETRO

We are also in the final moments of the Kala Sarpa Yoga we’ve been experiencing since April 2025 - a celestial formation in which all planets are hemmed between the shadowy nodes Rahu and Ketu, creating intensity and events that often feel transformative, overwhelming and even fated. A few days after this New Moon, Mars will move forward into Virgo, breaking the fiery bond its had with Ketu. Mars is our courage, energy and willpower, and when released from the nodal axis, we will feel the ability to move forward more freely and with more discernment and strategy. However, it may take until Mercury stations direct to see results — and could even until Saturn is no longer retro, so have patience during this retrograde time (Merc R until Aug 11, 2025 and Sat R until Nov 28, 2025). Use the next few weeks with Mercury R to get a bird’s eye view and reflect on the path you’ve been on recently, and plan out adjustments for next steps. Take the overlapping Saturn R time to review goals and create a solid structure to work within. Remember retrogrades can bring up the unresolved areas in our lives, so rather than get frustrated and impatient, reach out for proper support to work through anything that has been a challenge in the past. The Mars-Ketu connection of the last 2 months has been working on us in deep ways to release from old ideologies and alliances (within ourselves and with others).

🪔ADI AMAVASYA

To add to the reflective time of the moment, this New Moon which is considered Adi Amavasya, one of the most potent days of the year to honor the ancestors. It’s encouraged to offer gratitude and ask for guidance and healing from those who came before us. The stories we carry in our lineage live in us, shaping our habits and identities. It’s worth reflecting on what are we thankful for and what are we here to complete for our lineage.

::PEACE::
