Jan 11, 2024 NEW MOON in PURVA ASHADHA: Go with the Flow

We begin 2024 with a New Moon on Jan 11 at 6:57 am ET in a degree of sidereal Sagittarius called Purva Ashadha, “the invincible star.” The sign is kind, philosophical, insightful, and has strong intuition. It encourages us to make time to tune in and listen to the inner whispers. It’s ruled by Venus and Jupiter, the counselors/advisors of the planets, and so makes efforts to ensure all succeed. This requires strong interpersonal skills and offers great opportunities for personal development, often times coming from facing challenges with possibility, flexibility and detachment.

Being in the sign of Sagittarius the Archer, this New Moon asks us to look to the horizon for what’s next, what journey we’re drawn to, and where we are pointing our arrows of destiny. As the New Moon is sitting with Mars, Mercury and the Sun (as all New Moons do) and is getting a boost by Jupiter, these fiery planets are giving it (and us) the courage, drive and desire to forge ahead. Patience is hard for this planetary combo.

However, it’s a New Moon and is in the 4th “pada” of the sign ruled by Scorpio and so benefits from introspection and reflective time. Being ruled by Apas, the goddess of cosmic waters which births, purifies and brings (new) life to all, we’re reminded of the importance of slowing down and going with the flow. This is where there may be some internal tensions may pop up for those who are antsy to get moving but aren’t listening to their inner truths.  Purva Ashadha needs to remind itself this as it can have a tendency to overextend beyond what’s sustainable, and then reacts by contracting and withdrawing. Finding the balance can be a challenge for this New Moon. Being near water or simply taking a bath will support relaxation and feeling renewed, as will working with the lymphatic system to help move any stuck or stagnant “waters” to get back into the flow.

Take some time to listen to your inner guidance. Move your body so the “issues in the tissues” can work themselves out, and so your vision can manifest with greater ease. The New Moon wants us to recalibrate back to what is in highest alignment for each of us.

NEW MOON PROMPTS:

•Do you have direction? Or are you lacking it?

•Are you feeling stuck, stagnant?

•Are you going with the flow?

•Are you going to extremes with your interactions? Are you able to incorporate recovery/self care time?

•Are you honoring your inner voice / inner guidance? What does it feel like when you do? Or don’t?

•What does “going with the flow” look like in your daily life?
