Aug 12 and 26, 2026 Eclipses: Shed - Reveal - Heal
LONG POST ON BOTH AUGUST 2026 ECLIPSES:
Eclipses are powerful revealing events that shine a spotlight on what has been hidden, unresolved, or ready to be seen. They often mark pivotal turning points, especially when they activate planets or degrees in our birth charts, or when planets transit over the eclipse points (Oct 3, Nov 3, Feb 26, Mar 21, May 28). In the days and weeks surrounding an eclipse, secrets can surface both personally and collectively, bringing revelations that feel karmic, fated, or impossible to ignore. These moments ask us to be mindful of what is being worked through, released, or intensified. Eclipses magnify energy, so slowing down, meditating, and acting with intention are especially important during these times. It is recommended to not look at an eclipse (esp if pregnant), and to not do everyday things during an eclipse. It’s best to spend this time quietly and intentionally.
Aug. 12, 2026 at 13:38 ET New Moon Total Solar Eclipse: Shedding Skins
This lunar cycle starts off with a New Moon Total Solar Eclipse at 13:38 ET in Aug 12, 2026 in 25°48 degrees of sidereal Cancer, in the powerful and complex nakshatra of Ashlesha, the “clinging one.”
Ruled by the Moon and Mercury, it asks us to merge our hearts and minds, and unapologetically speak the Truth as it flows through each of us. As Ayurveda says: the seat of the mind is in the heart.
Ashlesha is a powerful communicator that, when in balance, speaks with authenticity, depth, and hypnotic magnetism. But when out of balance, it can sting like a cobra — or do the opposite: bite its tongue, suppress its feelings, or suddenly lash out after holding too much inside. One take away from this New Moon Solar Eclipse is that honest heart-centered communication is essential, and that unspoken emotions eventually erupt when ignored.
Connected to the kundalini and with a serpent as its symbol, Ashlesha is presided over by the Nagas, the mythical and misunderstood serpent beings associated with transformation, intuition, and hidden wisdom. Its shakti, or spiritual power, is penetration and deep insight, giving it strong intuition, an ability to uncover hidden truths, expose emotional undercurrents, and reveal where we may be silent or still entangled in fear, resentment and attachment. As always, eclipses will work on our internal process as well as in our communities, so be prepared for realizations and exposures on the personal and public levels.
Like a snake shedding its skin, we are being pushed to release old identities, outdated beliefs, unhealthy dynamics, and ways of being that no longer reflect our truth - even (or especially) ones with which we have identified for so long. Ashlesha’s name and serpent symbol point to attachment, entanglement, and constriction - sometimes to the point of suffocation. This eclipse also asks us to examine what we are gripping too tightly. We’re in a profound moment where we have the support to shed the old and release from attachments that no longer align with who we are becoming. We are being offered opportunities to heal or poison, depending on our motivation and how tuned in we are to the karmas presenting. Mindfulness and a pause can make all the difference.
This Solar Eclipse is amplified by benefic Jupiter sitting alongside the Sun, Moon, and Mercury, bringing vision, enthusiasm, and the confidence needed to confront what needs healing.
Aug 28, 2026 at 00:28am ET Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in 10°40 Aquarius: What’s Being Revealed For Healing
The Aug 28 Full Moon Lunar Eclipse occurs in a degree of sidereal Aquarius called Shatabhishak, “the hundred physicians” in Sanskrit. It brings about a healing crisis - not just an illness - in order to unearth deeper karmas ready to be faced. It forces us to make sometimes drastic changes to our lifestyle and mindset, in order to support the pending transformation.
Known as the veiling star, Shatabhishak is like a detective that reveals secrets and hidden alliances and imbalances. Its governing deity, Varuna the god of the celestial waters, is the known as the keeper of oaths and cosmic contracts. It’s a good time to check in with your agreements and ensure everything is truly aligned — and on the up and up. This Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Shatabhishak is telling us it’s time for cosmic order to be restored — and it doesn’t mind disrupting things in the process. But remember: eclipses are times where karma are revealed but can also be created - for better or for worse. So keep your detective hats on these next few weeks and months.
Rahu, the karmic and chaotic North Node of the Moon that governs this Vedic sign, asks us to think outside the box around what’s arising and how to approach it. It encourages us to connect with ancestral medicine, holistic practitioners and forward thinkers to find a “cure” — that there isn’t just one magic pill to solve our ills. Being open to alternative solutions and inspiration is absolutely key. Saturn, the other ruler of this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, typically requires dedication, slow and steady consistency, and prefers we utilize methods that are tried and true. But since its retrograde for the next 4 months, things may not be as organized or even as slowly as Saturn would like. Staying dedicated to the overall path is what’s important. The methods and modalities may change, and that’s fine. Staying focused on the overall mission and being flexible and open to clearing out these old karmas is the most important thing now.
Summary
Together, these eclipses bring about a powerful healing opportunity, as well as a reinforcement of our authenticity. Ashlesha demands that we speak our truth and stand strong in our power. Ruled by the Moon and Mercury, it helps us drop our minds into our hearts, and to always express from there. Shatabhishak highlights the need for deep restoration and an openness to alternative, ancestral, or unconventional healing modalities. Ruled by Saturn and Rahu, it asks for (some) discipline, honesty, and a willingness to think beyond traditional frameworks. Healing is unlikely to come through familiar methods alone.
Both eclipses carry fierce, uncompromising energy. Shatabhishak is not for the faint at heart. Neither is Ashlesha. They are not subtle. It feels like these eclipses are doubling down on themselves with this pair of nakshatras: one speaks the truth, and the other unveils secrets and gets busy restoring the cosmic order. They push us toward alignment, truth, healing, and greater authenticity. This eclipse cycle reminds us that transformation requires honesty. The more willing we are to release what constricts us, the more space we create for healing, clarity, and authentic expression.
To consider during the eclipses:
🐍 Do you feel you are living and expressing yourself with a connected heart and mind?
🐍 Are you: speaking honestly? Standing in your personal power? Allowing yourself to be fully seen without shrinking or hiding?
🐍 What truths are asking to be acknowledged, spoken, or lived more fully?
🐍 Where are you holding back, suppressing your voice, or afraid to be fully seen?
🐍 What attachments, identities, relationships, or patterns are you being asked to release?
🐍 What unconscious fears or emotional patterns are surfacing for healing?
🐍 Are your words aligned with your inner truth, or are resentment and fear shaping your expression?
🐍 Are your alliances aligned?
🐍 What healing modalities, practices, or forms of support feel most nourishing right now? Which are the most challenging but healing?
🐍 How are you grounding yourself emotionally, mentally, and spiritually during this period of change?
🐍 What would change if you fully stepped into your personal power and authenticity?
:::PEACE:::
