April 1, 2026 at 22:11 ET: Full Moon in Hasta: It’s in your hands
The first Full Moon after the Vedic New Year is in a beautiful degree of sidereal Virgo, Hasta the hand. As a healing sign that is caring and capable, its shakti/power is “the ability to gain what we are seeking and place it in our own hands.” Being ruled by Mercury and the Moon, Hasta brings together the intellectual and the intuitive, the scientific and the subtle. Even though it’s in “show me the studies” Virgo, it has a strong left/right brain balance and knows we can’t only focus on what we can see/feel/touch and discount our energetic/emotional/empathic sides. This Full Moon brings a “whole brain approach” to life and problem solving, asking us to not only trust our gut, but to get the info to back it up. This helps to instill confidence and trust in ourselves and our inclinations.
Hasta is known for its healing hands, its sharp intellect, its love of ritual and its crafty abilities. This Full Moon reminds us to utilize the many skills and tools in our toolboxes as we approach problem solving. Working with hands on modalities, energy adjusting practices and practitioners, and even home organizing and yard work can help us to clear our minds, and get more in alignment with our hearts and paths. This is especially important now as we are also working with the very intense and imbalanced Kala sarpa yoga configuration in the sky for half the month and then an unsupported moon energy the other half, until July 2026. (see reel: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4tS1ulxVa2/?igsh=bjA0MzRtazZocGEw or https://www.facebook.com/share/r/igAjwV3aBMaNWbYT/?mibextid=WC7FNe) These configurations can create a deep sense of frustration and even disenfranchisement. Being able to stay connected internally, to our environments, and to maintain focus on our paths - especially our “dinacharyas” or daily routines - will help us to avoid dropping into desperation, and will help carry us through this trying time.
According to Ayurveda, having intention in the day, specifically in the morning, can be life changing. Hands on self care like lymphatic massage / dry brushing and abyangha / self massage are supported (*more below). These can bring about major changes in our energy, in our motivation to keep moving on a path towards health and wellness — and in our lives. Hasta is, after all, about energy conversion. Its deity is Savitar, the Sun god who illuminates the inner world, helping to extinguish darkness from within.
This beautiful and supportive Full Moon wants us to know we have the ability to move our lives forward in the ways we envision. This is important to remember in this intense planetary moment we’ve been having. A few hours after the Full Moon, Mars shifts from sidereal Aquarius, where it’s been creating chaos and danger with Rahu and Mercury, and into sidereal Pisces where it will sit with Saturn for the next month and a half.
The scope of the next few weeks will be about shifting gears from the overwhelm of the last 1.5 months to implementing in a grounded way what we’ve been trying to get a handle on recently. The challenge of a Mars-Saturn conjunction is that eager Mars is like having one foot on the gas while slow Saturn is like one foot on the break. There can be issues with restraint with this combo, and it may take a minute to shift from an initial jerky start/stop expression to a more steady flow. It’s always wise to defer to Saturn, the “greatest planet of all,” and to create a path ahead that will be accessible and sustainable. Then Mars can take its marching orders and get to it. Meanwhile, it will be infused with the beautiful “whole brain approach” that this Hasta Full Moon brings with it as it sits across from Saturn.
Questions to ponder:
*Think of your habits, from diet, lifestyle, daily routine to mindset:
☀️What are you inspired to do?
☀️ What areas of life are asking to be cleaned up and re-envisioned?
☀️What has felt chaotic?
☀️What modalities will help you convert the energy at hand?
☀️How is your inner voice guiding you?
☀️Are you able to outline practical steps to take towards your goals?
☀️What tools are already in the palms of your hands?
🤲Hands-on modalities Hasta likes:
*Virgo is not one to jump onto a path without doing its due diligence or having a strategic plan laid out. Take note of Hasta’s controlling shadow side that can creep in.
🤲Lymphatic massage, abyangha (Ayurvedic self massage), marma, acupuncture, tapping, reiki, and yoga. Yin yoga or vinyasa are great as they encourage flow, and focus on compression poses that, once released, move the blood quickly to help break up stagnation.
🤲Clearing practices (like decluttering, cleansing, space clearing) are also supportive around this Full Moon as it connects to our health and wellness, as well as our homes and mental/emotional/energetic bodies.
🤲Hasta connects to healing hands so reach for things that can help get the energy and creativity moving like cooking, crafting, working in the garden or being in nature.
🤲And finally, because this degree of sidereal Virgo is governed by Mercury, mantra is also supported as an expression of the heart, as is writing your vision down, to get it out of your head and organized.
🤲Saturn sitting across from the Moon always loves a good cleaning up and clearing out.
*As always, please discuss with your practitioner to make sure you don’t have any contraindications.
