New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse Sep 21, 2025 at 15:54 ET in Sidereal Virgo 4°52 Uttara Phalguni: CHOICES: COOPERATION or INFLEXIBILITY
*LONG POST* Eclipses are powerful revealing events that shine the spotlight on areas that have been hidden or are ready to be seen. They highlight what needs to be looked at — not necessarily what we’re doing well at the moment. It can reveal and put the focus on the shadows in our lives - where we could heal and do better - and gives us suggestions as to what area of life is in the spotlight, and what kind of actions are important at this moment in time. They can make secrets public, as we see in our own lives and in the news the days immediately surrounding an eclipse. They highlight our karmic connections and give us opportunities for further engagement or release. They can usher in massive change, especially if there are connecting to planets or degrees in our personal birth charts. When an eclipse comes around, we get to do a deep dive into the areas highlighted by the eclipse as it unveils and unravels karmas ready to be faced or released… or we can create deeper karmas during these times If we don’t take patient and thoughtful steps. It’s always recommended to be mindful and intentional during eclipse season. Meditation is highly recommended during the minutes surrounding the eclipse.
The Solar Eclipse / New Moon falls in sidereal Virgo in Uttara Phalguni, “the latter red one” or “the latter fruit,” a sign tied to cooperation, friendship, commitment, and the abundance that comes from making wise choices in our relationships that share a common goal. The name reminds us that the fruits of our current harvest are dependent upon how we’ve been tending to our fields lately. It puts the focus on what we’re doing right now. Being an eclipse, we’re asked to look at our recent actions and alliances and to reassess if they’re compassionate and considering humanity, as this sign holds these things in high regard. Uttara Phalguni, ruled by Mercury and the Sun, leans toward cooperation, making conversations about our needs in relationship and our willingness to compromise central for the months ahead.
This Solar Eclipse is shining its superpowered spotlight on our shadows and giving us a chance to pivot towards unity and a more humanitarian path.
Aryaman, its ruling deity, is the god of prosperity and partnership, and said to be the one who helps us along our dharmic paths. As he protects our oaths and guards sacred contracts, he asks us to consider how we are engaging with others. Uttara Phalguni is a deal-maker; it’s a sign that wants to be in relationship - ones that are balanced and share the focus of abundance and future endeavors. That is, in fact, its shakti or power: the ability to bring about abundance from our wise choices.
While its emphasis is on partnership and prosperity, it’s not all business. It is also compassionate, has a strong humanitarian side and is an activist for equality. The shadow side of this Solar Eclipse’s sign is inflexibility and being a workaholic. This sign can become too rigid or overly focused on responsibility at the expense of joy. The Eclipse is asking us to pause and look at how we’ve been acting lately, and if our words and actions are supportive of the relationships we’re in.
Its symbols - the hammock or the legs of the marriage bed - remind us that even in difficult times we must prioritize resting, supporting one another in healing, and focusing on our unions. Its symbols remind us of the healing role intimacy and connection play in our lives. Compassion, kindness and cooperation are the medicine to reach for now. Like a day of rest, this New Moon Solar Eclipse invites us to shut down our screens, step into nature, recover, reconnect and work together towards a common good.
New Moon / Solar Eclipse prompts to consider:
•How are your relationships?
•Are you being true to your oaths and contracts?
•What new partnerships are you considering?
•Where do you feel abundant because of your unions?
•Are you resting enough?
•Is there joy in your life?
::PEACE::
