Full Moon in 18°48 sidereal Gemini, Ardra: Lean In and Shine - January 3, 2026, 05:02 am ET

The first Full Moon of 2026 ask us focus both on endings and forward vision. The Moon will be in Ardra, an intense and often harsh degree of sidereal Gemini, whose name means “moist” or “green” and is known for deep release and dynamic growth. It is the sign that can do hard things. Thankfully, the pada connection and protective conjunction with Jupiter soften Ardra’s usual fierceness, offering creativity, sensitivity and a visionary quality that is welcome with a new calendar year.

Ruled by Rudra, the god of storms, Ardra rarely brings change gently. Like the strong winds it governs, this Full Moon clears away what we have outgrown, whether we feel ready or not. Yet this Moon asks more of us than to simply endure. It invites us not to drop our heads when things feel difficult, but to lift our chins toward the horizon ahead, keep our vision steady and remember that we too can do hard things.

Ardra’s symbols make this clear. One is the human head, highlighting intellectual strength along with the tendency to overthink or intellectualize experience. Another is the teardrop or drop of sweat, reminding us that effort and sometimes a good cry are necessary for release and eventual mastery. The diamond is also associated with this Moon, pointing to resilience and hard-won brilliance. Even Ardra’s ruling star, Betelgeuse, is one of the brightest in the night sky and may one day rival the Moon itself.

In addition to the lovely Jupiter connections, this Full Moon receives aspects from nearly all the planets, except Ketu and Saturn, giving us a little boost, a sense of momentum, motivation, and guidance. The challenge with so much activity is the urge to push and rush. Gemini can move quickly, change its mind, or overcommit. Writing things out and thinking plans through will help, especially with Jupiter retro reminding us to consult trusted teachings or mentors, and to envision potential obstacles before moving ahead. Envisioning the tricky parts now will allow us to foresee obstacles and recognize where support will be needed.

As a Rahu-ruled nakshatra, Ardra also encourages us to think beyond old limits and to dream big, not just for ourselves but for the collective. With Rahu in the healing degree of Aquarius in Satabhishak, wellbeing is meant to stay at the center of our choices this month and throughout the year.

Questions to reflect on:

What is ready for release?

•What new beginning is calling?

•What is ready to be planted beneath your feet?

•Who can you turn to for guidance?

•What systems will you be reaching to for support? Think of your physical, mental/emotional, spiritual wellbeing.

•What vision do you hold for yourself? Does it feel joyful, creative and vibrant?

Wishing you a New Year filled with courage, clarity, and healthy growth!
