The Full Moon in Swati, the beautiful degree of sidereal Libra meaning “self”’or “sword” in Sanskrit, brings our attention to our personal development and growth, to where we are putting our energy, to the new (or renewed) ideas/ directions emerging.
Swati's symbol is the wheat sprout or a blade of grass blowing in the wind, beginning as a small seed full of potential and determination. It strives to grow and flourish, pushing through the soil, bursting through the earth towards the Sun, to become all it can be. Its animal symbol of the buffalo reminds us of the power and resilience we have within, and of the courage and wherewithal needed to face the storm head on. Remember: the fastest way is through, which is often times the most growth-promoting. Swati is gentle yet powerful. It is built to withstand the elements, and does so with stamina, grace and beauty.
As this Full Moon is traveling on its own and receiving aspects from impatient Mars, chaotic Rahu but also from uplifting and protective Jupiter, we’re encouraged to nurture these new beginnings - and ourselves - right now, even if we may feel alone in our endeavors. It can feel tough to do this with an unsupported Moon, so it’s advised to go inward, get grounded in meditation, visualization and pranayama (intentional breathing), and to then write things down. This will help us get unstuck and “move the issues out of the tissues,” and to see where we need to put our prana, our focus. Swati can sometimes make us feel scattered or untethered. This pranayama/ journaling practice will help us get on track and stay on track.
Being ruled by Rahu and Venus, Swati strives to find the balance between itself and others, when to bend with the breeze or when to branch off and be independent. This is where personal
development is key for the moment we’re in as our “dinacharya” practices help us anchor into ourselves, sharpen our skills, and discern what works for us and what doesn’t. Keep the sprouting seedling in mind; there is no jumping into full manifestation, so have patience and persistence. And try to find space for YOU over the next few days.
To consider:
✨In what areas do you feeling like a seed full of potential?
✨What aspects of life are showing signs of new growth?
✨Where do you have discipline? Enthusiasm? Devotion? Where are you lacking it?
✨Where do you feel independent?
✨Where do you need support?
✨How have you been managing the storms? Have you been facing them? Or running the other way?
✨Do you know how powerful you are?
Recommendations:
❤️Swati is governed by the goddess Saraswati, who brings her strong suits: personal development, education, communication, and music. This is a wonderful time to focus on these areas of life, and to see what systems and modalities are calling you.
❤️ As Swati is ruled by Venus (the skin) and rough and dry Rahu, this Full Moon benefits from abhyanga: Ayurvedic self massage done before bathing (https://www.lexneon.com/resources).
Here is a simple Swati-inspired pranayama/meditation to support you.
🌱Sit quietly, legs crossed, back straight, eyes closed, and focus on your deep and steady breath.
🌱On the in-breath, visualize energy and strength coming into your body from the ground. Imagine this energy/ light/ nourishment traveling all the way up to your head.
🌱On the out-breath, visualize this energy traveling down your body, back into the earth where it takes root.
🌱Continue to breathe in and out like this.
🌱Visualize roots growing from you base, going deep into the soil helping to keep you grounded and solid, like a tree.
🌱Practice this in-breath/ out-breath visualization as many times as you need to until you feel centered.
☀️Eventually, allow the in-breath to fill you with nourishing light and then radiate outwards. When you feel full and able, let this light travel as far as you would like and to whoever needs this support.
